Today at 4:53 PM, Kara Leigh Ceritelli was born weighing 6 pounds 14.5 ounces and measuring 19 inches long. She has dark hair and blue eyes like Addison. Kelly is doing well after the surgery and should be out of the hospital sometime on Sunday. All of the grandparents from Dallas made it down in time to see the new addition to the family. My parents brought Addison along before her bed time so she could meet her little sister. She didn't like seeing Kelly hooked up to all the machines, but loved walking around the hallway near our room. She didn't seem to notice Kara much until everyone was holding Kara instead of her. She is pronouncing Kara's name similar to "Tara" right now, and it is very cute. It is strange having a small baby again after over two years. I forgot how small the diapers are on the newborns and how tiny they are. We are going to try to get some rest and Kelly is looking forward to being able to eat breakfast tomorrow. Here are some pictures and a video of Kara:

Kelly had her weekly appointment today at 10:30 AM to check on how she and the baby were doing. After the doctor checked her out, she informed us that Kelly was 3 to 4 centimeters dilated and that it was time to have the baby! Initially, the plan was to have the surgery within an hour or two. However, since Kelly had a snack prior to the appointment they decided to wait until the food was out of her system. The C-section should be around 5:00 PM, so kiddo number two will be here later today!
Kelly's Dad and Stepmom came up to visit at the start of June and we snuck out to the pool to try to cool off from the summer heat. Addison had a great time as always, and practiced her new favorite activty at the pool. She likes to hang out on the raised area near one of the set of stairs and jump into our arms. We then have to wisk her away as if she was diving out into the water. She has a lot of fun doing this, but we get pretty tired after a dozen or so times.
We went to Guri del Sol at the end of May to celebrate the retirement of my Mom from teaching. The restaurant is a Brazilian style restaurant where you have a two course meal for your dinner. The first course is starter foods like a salad , fruit, and other small items. The second course consists of various meats that are brought around on skewers. The waiters will slice a piece of these meats for you and put it on your plate for as long as you care to eat. They have wide sampling of food from chicken to pork to steak. After we were all stuffed, we ordered dessert and watched Addison light up about the ice cream. Below you can see some of the shots of her pigging out.
Here are some quick shots from our dinner tonight at the Black-eyed Pea. Addison was having a good time with all of her food. In the first picture she is trying to eat the bread by smashing it into her face and biting off what she can. The second one shows her having trouble figuring out how to eat the cheese sticks. The third shot is her licking the back of the spoon that she would dip into the chocolate syrup of her ice cram sundae. She hardly ate the actually ice cream out of the bowl.
Addison was over at my Aunt Anita's house the other day helping her water the many plants she has in her back yard. Addison, being an outdoor girl, really likes the water feature and wide variety of plants at my Aunt's house. My Aunt snapped some shots of her having fun that you can see below.
Addison has been growing even more vocal about everything that she does. These are some pictures of her sitting on the couch(with her Mickey Mouse blanket of course) eating a snack. While doing this, she decided to do some sit-ups and say "up" or "down" in the process. Then, Kelly decided to get Addison to make some funny faces while she took pictures. The successful results are below.
This past weekend was the first day the community pools were open. We met with my parents and Aunt Anita at the pool near them on Saturday. The water was a little on the cool side, but was fine once you were in it for a while. Addison was wearing her new life vest since she has outgrown the inflatable raft we used to use. It rides up a bit on her in the water, but she didn't complain about it. It will fit her better as she grows I'm sure. Here are two movies of Kelly and my dad spinning Addison. This is one of her favorite activities in the pool.
Addison has been lining up items in rows for a while now when she is playing with her toys. However, she decided to put a row of Goldfish crackers on her leg one day during lunch as seen below. Addison and I also had some random fun with one of the blankets as you can see below in these movies:
Addison will sometimes pick up one of the many fake phones we have and pretend to call "Pappa", which is what she calls my dad. She will also do this with one of the radios we have. Below are two short movies where we attempted to capture this on film:
We have been getting Addison in the habit of brushing her teeth every night before bedtime. She even gets excited about doing it! Below is a short movie showing one of her nightly brushing sessions:
Addison made the move to a big girl bed this past weekend. We had a day bed that we brought down from Dallas that we added one of the safety bars to. It has worked out great and she has not had any problems sleeping in it yet.
