Pearl Harbor Pictures Continued..

This is the Arizona marker.

This is a view of the Harbor. It is amazing how big the Harbor really is.

This is a dedication that can be found on the Arizona Memorial.

This is the famous memorial noting all the men that lost their lives on December 7th serving their country.

If I recall correctly, these are the Arizona and West Virginia markers.

Pearl Harbor 65th Anniversary

Today (December 7th) marks the 65th Anniversary of the attacks on Pearl Harbor. They are saying this will be the last gathering of the survivors at Pearl Harbor. So, it is an even more significant day. I am such a WWII buff and love to hear stories about WWII, so I will have to find some WWII stories today. I have attached some pictures of when we went to visit Pearl Harbor in October 2005.

This is the Arizona platform/memorial.

Parts of the Arizona are above the water.

I am standing on the Arizona platform looking down onto the Arizona.

This was a battleship (don't recall the name) that was docked in Pearl Harbor the day we went. I have a few more pictures I will be posting here in a minute.

Here are the belly shots as promised. Kelly currently doesn't look very pregnant with her clothes on, but I'm sure that will change in the coming months. I have felt the baby move several times now and it is pretty cool. Kelly will play this game with the baby where she will tap on a spot on her belly and then the baby will usually respond by kicking or punching in that area.

We went to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular featuring the Rockettes at the Nokia Theater on Saturday the 2nd. Kelly said that during the show the baby was going nuts and moving all over the place. I think we need to start playing the Aggie War Hymn now to get her Aggie-fied early.

Updated Sonogram

Here is the newest sonogram picture that we had taken on November 28th with my text additions for clarity. We went to see a specialist to check for heart problems with the baby since she had a slight heartbeat irregularity on our previous check up. As it turns out, the initial irregularity was caused by a Dr. Pepper that Kelly had for lunch earlier that day. In Kelly's defense, this was the first caffeine she had drank in a long time. We failed to mention this drink to the Doctor when the irregular heartbeat occurred. Due to the irregular heartbeat, Kelly was on a strict no caffeine regimen for two weeks and scheduled for another sonogram.

We didn't get into the sonogram room with the doctor until an hour past the scheduled appointment time. Also, the nurses weren't even at the hospital until 15 or 20 minutes past our appointment time. We also had another lady there that had her appointment 15 minutes after ours, yet she got to see the doctor first. I wouldn't have been so upset about all this, but I had several important items going on at work that I needed to get back for. Once we got in the room, Kelly sat down for the sonogram, one nurse manned a laptop to enter information, and another kept messing with this goose-neck floor lamp. The nurse messing with the lamp kept trying to position it so that it was against the wall emitting enough light to see, but not so much as to prevent the sonogram screeen from being hard to see. She failed horribly in her task and they ended up just turning it off. This apparently caused the other nurse at the laptop to have difficulty seeing the screen and much squinting and frustration noises continued from that point.

The doctor found the baby very quickly and began checking lengths and looking at various sections of the body. We got to see the toes, fingers, and face in great detail during all of this. Everything checked out and the baby was as far along in development as we had previously thought. Next, the doctor checked the heartbeat. Everything was fine and the culprit of the previous irregular heartbeat was the caffeine as we suspected.

Belly Shots Delayed

The Kelly's Belly photos will be delayed until out new digital camera arrives. There has been an unfortunate mix-up with DHL and the United States Post Office that has resulted in our camera going missing. We may be able to sneak in a shot with Kelly's work camera though...

Thanksgiving Week

We went down to Kingwood (Houston) for Thanksgiving. We had a good visit. Mike's parents will be moving into a new house in February '07. Below are some pictures of the house.

Front of the house.

This is part of their backyard looking onto the golf course that is behind the house.

We actually don't have any people shots. I guess we kinda forgot to take people shots. Oh well!! I am pregnant so I am forgetful..not sure what Mike's excuse is! :P Sympathy forgetfulness is what I think he will claim! :)

I made green bean casserole - my first time ever - for our Thanksgiving dinner and it was a hit among everyone. It was all gone!! I really enjoyed it as well! We had Thanksgiving dinner with Mike's family and some family friends - 8 total. The food was GREEEAATT!!!! I pigged out!! Baby girl really enjoyed the food as well.

The Aggies FINALLY beat Texas!! Woot!

We went and saw the new James Bond movie. It was pretty good. I am not a Bond fan and have never been really into the movies - and never impressed by any of the previous ones - but this was a pretty good movie. I would recommend you go watch it.

Thats all for now.

Turkey Day

HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY!

We are heading down to Houston (Kingwood) Wednesday afternoon to visit Mike's parents. Looking forward to all the food!!! :)

Might have some pictures or more to write about this long (yeay) weekend next week.

Be Safe!

Halfway Point

I am 20 weeks = 5 months pregnant! Yeay! Halfway Done!! Woot! I have been able to feel the baby move at least once a day. Mike got to feel the baby hit his hand last night. He thought it was the coolest thing. I enjoy feeling her move...right now. Ask me that whenever she is bigger and kicking my ribs! :)

My belly is starting to get bigger; however, it is still probably not noticeable to anyone that doesn't know me. Hopefully our new camera will come in sometime soon so we can take a picture of my belly.

It's Official

We are having a baby girl. We don't have any names picked out yet. We haven't discussed names at this point. We aren't in a big hurry. Nothing really exciting. The baby looks healthy. Eventhough I am not growing much right now, the baby is growing just fine. She is average length and weight for her age.

Been Awhile...

Since I last posted on here. Been kinda busy with work plus not a lot has happened recently.

I had my second prenatal visit on October 16th. Nothing exciting. I didn't get to meet with my doctor because she was across the way at the hospital delivering. I just met with the assistant and she did the basic stuff - pee in a cup (always fun!), blood pressure, weight and we listened to the heartbeat. Everything came back normal. The heartbeat was average around 158 bpm (beats per minute), which is normal. We will find out the sex of the baby in November, assuming the baby coooperates. I can't wait to find out.

Tomorrow I will be 17 weeks pregnant!!! I am starting to show a little in my work clothes, but not really in my lounging around clothes - t-shirts! This week has been pretty bad. I had three nights in a row where I didn't sleep well. I slept very well last night. Yeay!! You know you sleep well when you get your weird pregnancy dreams back! Apparently it is very common to have weird dreams while you are pregnant, and boy have I had my weird ones. I can't even begin to describe last nights dream..it involved my high school reunion, however, we weren't humans but creatures with supernatural powers...that is all I can remember right now. It was definetly strange.

Last weekend I got to meet Mike's boss and coworkers at a get together as his boss's house. Mike (and his non athletic abilities) decided to go throw a nerf football with his boss's son (around 12). I was laughing so hard. He was throwing sooooo bad. I decided to throw a few, granted I wasn't too much better, but all of his male coworkers said I was pretty good and actually threw better than Mike. They were giving him so a hard time. I hope the baby gets my athletic abilities :P

Officially One Year!!

Finally, I can post pictures. Yeay! In honor of our one year anniversary I have posted wedding pictures.

Week 14

This is what babycenter.com says....

How your baby's growing:
Head to bottom, your baby's 3 1/2 inches long — about the length of a lemon — and weighs about 1 1/2 ounces. Her body's growing faster than her head, which now sits upon a more well-defined neck. By the end of this week, her arms will have lengthened and will be in proportion to the rest of her body. (Her legs still have some growing to do, though.) She's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair all over her body (called lanugo). Her liver starts secreting bile this week, a sign that it's already functioning properly, and her spleen starts contributing to the production of red blood cells. She's also producing and discharging urine into the amniotic fluid, a normal process that she'll keep up until birth. You still can't feel your baby's movements, but her hands and feet (which are now half an inch long) are more flexible and active. Thanks to brain impulses, her little facial muscles are getting a workout as she squints, frowns, and grimaces. She can grasp now, too, and she may be able to suck her thumb.

Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of your baby's development.

How your life's changing:
As early discomforts (nausea, fatigue, breast tenderness) begin to fade, you may start to regain some energy and feel more comfortable with how your body's changing. (Although the top of your uterus is only a bit above your pelvic bone, that growth may be enough to push your tummy out a bit.) Starting to show is an exciting pregnancy milestone and it will likely give you and your partner the visible evidence of a baby that you've been waiting for. Take some time to plan, daydream, and enjoy this amazing time. It's normal to worry a bit now and then, but you can also breathe a little sigh of relief knowing that with the start of this trimester your risk of miscarriage has dropped significantly. Now try to focus on taking care of yourself and your baby and having faith that you're well equipped for what's ahead

One Year Wedding Anniversary!!!

We celebrated our first anniversary this past weekend (October 10th is the anniversary date). Mike had a few things lined up for us to do. First we started off at 3 Forks (www.3forks.com). Beautiful place excellent food and great service. I would defintely go there again!!

This is the dining room we ate in. This place was great!! Can you tell that I really enjoyed this place?!!

Next, we went to watch a musical "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels", which was sooo funny. If it is coming to a town near you I would highly recommend watching this musical now. The actor that plays Steve Martin's character in the movie is excellent. He makes the show. Unfortunately, after this tour is over he is quitting Broadway. You must see this show.

I won't go into the details about the trouble we had parking for this musical. It was at the State Fair after the Texas/OU game..need I say more?!!

We had a good time. Afterwards, Mike asked how it felt to be married for a year. I responded, "Ask me in 3 days on our anniversary!!!" :)

Here are some wedding pictures. Just thought I would post them for the heck of it. Or not. Blogger is acting up right now while uploading pictures. I will have to try another post.

Second Trimester Begins!!!

Tomorrow - October 7th, 2006!! This is suppost to be the best trimester. We will see. I am seeing some relief though. I will write more later!!

Oh, and sorry there aren't any belly pictures. Kinda forgot!

Kelly's Bday!!!

So, I turned 29 on October 3rd, which makes me sad to know I only have one more year left in my 20s. Where did all the time go? I remember growing up I always wanted time to move faster because I was ready to move out of the house and be on my own making my own money. Well, then college hit and I never wanted to leave. I wanted time to slow down...way down. I tried to drag out the college years as much as I could...5 years (j/k parents). I guess I should have asked the decade students how they did it and copy them.

The day of my bday, Mike asked "So, how does it feel to be older?" I said "Okay. At least I am not as old as you!" Thats a little running joke we have. He jokes that he is robbing the craddle eventhough he is only older by two years! Next year I will be able to drink liquor so I think some margaritas are in order!

As the true romantic that Mike is, these lovely gerber daisies were sent to my office. This is how we celelbrated my bday - and this was all my choice. For lunch we went to Whataburger because I have been craving a whataburger like no other - I paid for it. Didn't even dawn on me that he might like to pay. "So where did Mike take you on your bday?" "Well, we went to Whataburger for lunch and I paid." "Oh, what a truly romantic man he is!!!!"

For dinner I wanted greasy pizza so we went to this little italian place about 5 minutes from the house and order a large greasy pepporoni pizza. Mike paid this time!!

When I got home from work these pretty flowers had just arrived at the house. They are from Mike's parents. They are still all in one piece because the cats haven't discovered them yet!!

All in all, it was a good bday!

Bryan's Wedding

This past weekend (September 29-30,2006) we were busy going to wedding functions for Bryan's wedding here in the Dallas area.

Friday night the wedding rehersal was held at the Bride's church - Richardson Methodist Church with the wedding dinner at Blue Mesa Grill. My pregnancy taste buds did not enjoy the food at Blue Mesa Grill.

Saturday night the wedding was at 6pm. The reception was at Scottish Rite Catherdral (Mason) with real beautiful ceiling and column carvings (see below pictures).

The above picture are the "husbands" who were all a part of the Texas A&M Band Corp. Usually there are about 20 plus but with there being a home Aggie football game (we lost to Texas Tech in the last 30 seconds) and people starting families the number has dwindled down.

Mike was one of the groomsmen. Yes, I am wearing his tuxedo jacket..I am not that big yet. Geessh!!

First Sonogram

This is the first sonogram picture that was taken on September 19th. It is hard to tell what is what on this scanned in picture, so I have added some captions.

Kelly's Belly

Weekly updates of my wife's belly including photos!

Week 12 - I am sleeping alot better this week but I am still tired :( I want energy!!! My sinus/allergies have been acting up alot this week. Today (Wednesday) I am dizzy and Mike drove me into work. I am beginning to wear my preggo pants more often since they are the most comfortable things I own. I am beginning to get a belly..which is probably becoming noticeable. I guess I should tell work soon. Other than that, same ole thing!

Picture to come later on!

McCrosky Wedding Pictures

Scott McCrosky's Wedding

We went to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas on September 15-16, for Scott and Carrie McCrosky's wedding. Mike hadn't seen Scott in a couple of years and that was my first time to ever meet him. It was a small wedding held in a chapel located on the base. The chapel was built in the mid to late 1800's .

Scott bought a house down in Georgia where he will be stationed at for the next few years. For those that do not know, Scott is an Apache Helicopter Pilot and got back from a tour in Iraq at the beginning of the year. While he was there Mike supplied Scott and his buddies with Jack Daniels and gummy bears.
