Houston

We are moving to Houston, technically Kingwood. It all has happened quickly. It is so fast that our heads are spinning. Mike had an interview this past Monday, and they made him an offer. We accepted the offer. Mike turned in his two week notice on Tuesday, and they dismissed him Wednesday morning. Therefore, we are going down to Houston a lot sooner than anticipated. We were hoping he would fulfill his two week notice because that would have given us more time to pack the house up; Oh well! Due to the pay check lapse he starts his new job this Monday. In the meantime, we are trying to pack up essentials and bringing them down to Houston tomorrow. Which has proven difficult with a little one. We will make several trips back up to Dallas to pack the remainder and get the house ready to sale.

While in Kingwood, Mike went walking around his parents neighborhood and took pictures of these custom homes. Our future house?? I wish! They start at 400k.

Who is that doggy in the window?

It's Zoe!!

When I was walking around making my neighborhood damage assessment, I saw this little dog. I didn't think much of it at the time and assumed her owner would be calling for her shortly. Well, a few hours later I was outside helping Mike when I looked over and the dog was laying down watching Mike work. We called the dog over and her collar had her name and the owner's phone number on it. The dog was eventually returned to the owner. Thank goodness because we couldn't really afford to have a new addition to the family. It was the sweetest little dog. She loved having her belly rubbed.

Neighborhood Damage

Here are pictures of our neighbor's wind damage from the storm that passed by Wednesday night.

This is a picture of our alleyway. This is all the mud/dirt that was washed onto our alleyway due to the heavy rains.





This is one neighbor up the street. A majority of their fence blew over. In the right hand side you can see the other neighbor's fence is tilted over.


Here is another neighbor's fence.



This is from our backyard looking at our next door neighbor's backyard. Most of the fence on the back side and all of the fence on the other side were gone. Also, the green tint you see in their backyard is a wooden swing set; it crumbled on top of itself.


This is the same neighbor. If you look closely you can see one of their trees broke. Too bad this ugly farm-like fencing didn't break.

What Remains

We had bad weather pass through Dallas-Fort Worth this past Wednesday night that was classified as tornadic weather. By the time the weather hit our area, the rain was coming down in buckets and the wind was so strong we thought our windows were going to blow out. On top of the bad weather, we lost our power at the beginning of this storm. Due to the high winds we went and sat in the laundry room until the storm passed by. I was praying it wasn't a tornado and just high winds. After the worst part of the storm passed by we looked at the windows to see what if anything had happened, but we got a better view the next morning.

This is our backyard the next morning with half of our fence blown over. Three posts were blown out of the ground, however, the post were only 1/2 a foot deep and were not set in concrete. This was the original fence that was thrown together by the home builders so it was very cheaply and poorly done.

Here is the missing piece to our fence. Hopefully, it didn't hit anyone on its journey past the alleyway, over the fence, through the trees and onto the street. I assume it landed in the middle of the street and someone moved it out of the street and onto the grass.

We moved the pieces in our yard and propped them against the remainder of the fence, however, this unfortunate piece is staying over there.




We had a couple window screens come off and a few others were loose.

Oh noes, the Aggie Gig 'Em sign!! Either the weather did it or some disgruntled UT person decided to be cute.

The only other "damage" we had were the front porch lights (you can see one in this picture in the upper left corner), one was completely upside down and the other was titled to the side.

First Road Trip

This past weekend was Addison's first road trip down to Houston. She did very well. The last hour of the trip she got a little fussy and restless - she was ready to get out of the car seat. Can't blame her, I was ready to get out of the car!!

Here is a picture of my little angel sleeping at some point during the weekend. She sleeps just like her Dad(mouth wide open), and she snores like him too.


While we were in Houston, Pat (MIL - Mother in Law) threw a "Come See Addison" Party and "Come see the new house" party - all in one.

This is William Krebs. He is a little over one year old. When you ask him "How big is William?” he throws both stretched out arms above his head as if saying "This Big!!” It was adorable. He is such a cutie. Since William is older than Addison, I can watch him and see what I am in for in the future. So far I know, Addison will walk/crawl everywhere, pull things down, bang things together, push things over, and go and steal baby pacifiers from another babies mouth!! That last one is actually a pretty cute/funny story of what William did to Addison. I had Addison lying on her back on my legs and she was sucking on her big blue pacifier. William walked up to us and started waving his hand around like he wanted to touch Addison. So, we gently petted Addison. Next thing I know he quickly reached over and ripped the pacifier straight out of her mouth. Addison didn't cry at all. Another lady grabbed William and we got her pacifier back. I was shocked at how quickly William moved.


Addison is sleeping in an old wind-up swing set that Michael's parents borrowed from a friend. She didn't care for the cranking sound too much, but she slept like a champ in the swing!

Past Weekend...

..Addison's Grandma and Great Grandparents came over for a visit. Her Great Grandparents live out of town so this was their first time to see Addison in person. She had a good time, she slept through the whole thing. Just seconds before they came over she was fussy and crying her eyes out, but once company comes over she put on her good face.

In addition to my parent's coming up this week to help out and stay through the weekend, we had a number of other out-of-towners that were able to pay us a visit.

Addison's 2 Week Check Up

The title pretty much says it all. We went yesterday for her 2 week check up. When she was born she weighed 6.4 and was 18.5 inches long. However, by the time we were discharged she weighed 5.15. It is normal for babies to lose weight after they are born due to the umbilical cord not constantly feeding them and they are trying to learn how to eat via bottle or breastfed. Our little girl now weighs 6.11 pounds and is 19 inches long. I don't want her to grow up to fast because at this young age you can hug and kiss them all you want without them saying "Gross Mom. You are embarrassing me." So, I have to give her all the loving I can before she learns to talk.

We have been doing some tummy time - build up those neck muscles so she can hold her head up. She will lift her head a little bit and move it around. After awhile she begins to cry, she doesn't enjoy too much tummy time unless she is laying on Daddy's chest.

As a shower gift Aunt Stephanie bought a hand and foot print ink set. This past weekend we decided to do the prints. Well, let me tell you how messy that is on a squirmy little newborn. The footprint went well. No problems there. The hand print didn't go quite as smoothly. As soon as we put the BLACK ink on her hand she made a fist and started waving her arm everywhere. Needless to say, her whole hand was black and she managed to get a little on her face. Because of this "struggle", the hand print did not turn out as well as the footprint did. Afterwards, I washed her foot and hand, but because she made a fist there was black ink all in her fingernails. I even gave her a bath and it still didn't remove all of the black ink from around her nails. Oh well! When we went to the doctor's office yesterday I told Mike that I hope they didn't notice the black ink around her nails and think we were abusing her! They didn't even mention it. My point here - if you have a squirmy little baby like we do think twice before you do black ink hand print or make sure your baby is (literally) passed out.

Addison's umbilical cord stump fell out sometime last week. I know Mike was thrilled to see it go. He wasn't to fond of the stump. It didn't bother me.

Sorry if there are any typos in this post. I was typing it pretty fast and I have to feed the baby now so I don't have time to proofread it.

Kelly's brother John came to visit today since he was finally over his cold. He said this was his first time holding a baby this small.

Hoppy Easter!

Addison decided to get all dressed up today for Easter!

Had to add my two cents worth here. I (Kelly) was the set designer/coordinator/photographer for this Easter picture. Mike was...well...he sat there and watched. Hope you all enjoy the Easter picture. Just ignore the little pieces of carpet you can see in the picture. The blanket that Addison is laying on was handmade by my Aunt Teri.

Carolyn and Witt Drake stopped by on their way out of town today to see little miss Addison.

Activity Mat, Visitors, and an Outside Trip

We put our little girl in the Baby Einstein Activity Mat so she could see all the sights and sounds it had to offer. I think this one will be a lot more fun for her once she gets a bit older and can knock around all the toys.

Addison's Grandparents and Great Grandparents from Kelly's side of the family came over for a quick visit on Saturday. We didn't have any pictures of them from their hospital visit since we were pretty exhausted when they came.


We took Addison out for a quick tour of the neighborhood since the weather finally improved. She slept the whole trip, but it was nice for Mom and Dad to go outside and walk around.
